
The European Union awarded this project to a consortium comprising four highly experienced organisations: PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Sustainable Business Solutions, GREDI (Groupe de Recherche en Économie et Développement International), Forum for Africa and GRET.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is the consortium leader and coordinator of this project. The company has extensive experience in monitoring, implementing, managing and evaluating external assistance programmes/projects, particularly in the ACP region, across a wide range of sectors (Financial Sector, Private Sector Development, Public Sector Reform, Social Protection, Transport and Energy). PricewaterhouseCoopers has fully-fledged offices in ACP countries, and has correspondent offices in most other countries. The company has established a strong reputation with its ability to manage large budget, complex projects, its quality assurance system and backstopping capacity.
GREDI (Groupe de Recherche en Économie et Développement International) is new research group of the University of Sherbrooke, Canada, specialised in international development economics. GREDI's main research areas are economic impacts studies, analytical methods of revenue and welfare distribution, productivity, international trade & competitiveness, macroeconomic modelling, effectiveness of financial institutions and labour market analysis.
GRET (Research and Technology Exchange Group) : An international solidarity organisation uniting activist professionals, GRET is a non-profit association that obtains most of its resources from contracts. Created 25 years ago around appropriate technologies, GRET has always placed (and continues to place) considerable emphasis on experience analysis and documentation and communication for development, in particular through its publications. We have been developing field projects for a dozen years that are systematically undertaken in partnership with local organisations or that lead to the creation of such organisations. Today, these projects represent two-thirds of our activities. Through network moderation and support for development and cooperation contracting authorities, we also contribute to elaborating public policies in developed and developing countries.
FORUM FOR AFRICA is a NGO that pursue the following objectives : contribute to the study of the conditions for a sustainable development of Africa ;
identify and support the African men and women who develop creativity and initiative, in particular in the economical and cultural fields ;
modify the way the rest of the world shows Africa.
FORUM FOR AFRICA'S activities are centered around the three main axes of its working program:
Impact of trade negotiations between Africa and Europe: participating to the Sustainability Impact Assessment in ACP countries (SIA UE-ACP) ;
Sustainable Development ;
Innovation in Africa.
FORUM FOR AFRICA works in partnership with other public or private institutions active in the same fields as well as international organisations, in particular the European Union's institutions.
