At the occasion of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) hosted by the German EU Presidency in Wiesbaden from 23-27 June 2007, PricewaterhouseCoopers officially released the “Sustainability Impact Assessment (SIA) of the Economic Partnership agreements (EPAs) between the EU and the ACP countries to the press.

The final report of the EU-ACP SIA was distributed to participants at the ACP-EU JPA and two members of the consortium obtained accreditation, attended the JPA sessions, seeking to actively to engage in dialogue and discussions with members of European and ACP parliaments.

Joint UNCTAD/WTO Informal Information Session on private standards

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) jointly organized an informal information session on private standards on 25 June 2007. The purpose was to give UNCTAD and WTO members the opportunity to familiarize themselves with different private standards schemes, particularly in the area of food safety.

PricewaterhouseCoopers was invited to participate in this conference and the final report of the Sustainability Impact Assessment of the EU-ACP Economic Partnership Agreements was distributed to participants.

SADC-EU Economic Partnership Agreement Information Seminar

The Consortium was invited to present the final report of the “Sustainability Impact Assessment of EU-ACP Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA) - Summary of findings, policy recommendations and lessons learned” and in particular the study on Rules of Origin in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region at a SADC EPA information seminar organised by the European Commission on 20 June 2007 in Windhoek, Namibia.

PwC meeting on Sustainability Impact Assessment

11 May 2007, Antananarivo, Madagascar

The consortium presented the final report for phase IV of the SIA at a briefing workshop organised by CABRAM Madagascar, a member firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers Madagascar. The meeting was attended by thirty senior representatives of government, business, nongovernmental organisations and the press.

UNEP trade impact assessment & capacity building meeting UNEP-ETU

The consortium presented the final report for phase IV of the SIA at a capacity building workshop on “Trade policy mpact assessment - the case of the shrimps sector in Madagascar” organised by the United Nations Environment Programme, Economics and Trade Brachn (UNEP-ETU) in cooperation with the Ministry for Agriculture, farming and fisheries of Madagascar.
